A cinematic celebration for the entire family

This year the Festival is spreading its wings throughout the streets of the city, offering a cinematic celebration for the entire family in dozens of sites - in the Old City and Jaffa Road, from Safra Square to Mahane Yehuda Market. Visitors will enjoy a journey through different cinematic worlds and interactive activities, with each of the activity stations designed according to a movie genre and in the spirit of different periods in the history of cinema

 

Old City – Muristan Square, Wednesday, July 19, & Thursday, July 20, 20:00

35 mm screening – Cinema Paradiso – with Arabic Subtitles

A special screening of Cinema Paradiso (1988), director’s cut.

The Old City’s Muristan Square will transform in to an Italian piazza for a night of cinema, live music, pizza, and gelato (Italian ice cream).

 

Old City – Inside Jaffa Gate, July 16-20, 16:00-23:00

An interactive sound and animation site in collaboration with Polyjam Berlin. Visitors are invited to compose music on iPods, and by night, create animation on the Old City walls.  

 

Jaffa Road – Safra Railway Station, July 16-20, all day

The tram station will masquerade as a railway station from the world of classical Westerns with a state-of-the-art augmented reality screen, and a photo booth that will transport visitors to the wild west.

 

Zion Square, July 16-20, 16:00-23:00

An entire site devoted to science fiction, including:

Sound Space(ship) – a space where visitors compose movie soundtracks ▪ Time Tunnel – a space equipped with a green screen and changing backgrounds ▪ 2 VR Beams – walk a 300-meter-high beam over a futuristic world ▪ Video mapping over Hamashbir’s building façade.

 

Moon Square on Hillel Street (Museum of Italian Jewish Art), July 16-20, 16:00-23:00

Children and Youth

Popcorn trampoline ▪ Arts and crafts stations in a variety of animation methods (zoetropes, phono-trope, scanimation) ▪ Screening of children’s and teen cult movies every night at 21:00 - to be screened: 16.7 ET, 17.7 The Princess Bride, 18.7 Jurassic Park, 19.7 Batman.

 

Muslala – Clal Building roof, July 16-20, 20:00-23:00

Open-air screenings of student films, video art, and experimental films – curated by Hila Cohen-Schneiderman. Beer and ambiance.

 

Beit Alliance, July16-20, 17:00-22:00

A morphing organic body, will invite visitors to participate in a live, role-playing game.

Visitors are welcome to create, photograph, act, direct and edit movies.

The site will be operated by students from Bezalel, in collaboration with Ruach Hadasha.

Karma She, the project’s architect, will launch the experiment on Sunday, July 16, in  the Beit Alliance basement.
