18:30 The Red Turtle

A beautiful no-dialogue animated film that portrays the life of a man stranded on an isolated tropical island inhabited by turtles, scorpions, and birds. The film’s title references Albert Lamorisse’s exemplary children’s film The Red Balloon, which also has no dialogue, and just like it, The Red Turtle offers viewers of all ages an exhilarating, thought provoking, and touching aesthetic experience. Co-produced by Wild Bunch and Studio Ghibli (founded by the legendary animator Hayao Miyazaki).

Dir.: Michaël Dudok de Wit (France/Belgium 2016, 80 min., no dialogue).

22:30 Under the Sea

Howard Hall and the film’s production crew, whose past productions include The Deep and Deep Sea, take us on an adventurous journey in tropical waters: the great barrier reef off the Australian coast as well as other underwater kingdoms of the South Pacific. This amazing film, narrated by Jim Carrey, features extraordinary cinematography, a face-to-face encounter with the wonders of nature, from the great white shark (and its terrifying teeth) to the amusing wiggles of the cuttlefish. Abounding excitement and entertainment deep below sea level.
