Poland 2018 | 91 minutes | Polish | Hebrew, English subtitles

A malcontent metalhead with a passion for life is at the center of this film. He lives with his extended family in a Polish province and works on a building site close to the Polish-German border where the world’s largest statue of Jesus is being constructed. Shortly after his engagement, he is involved in a horrendous work accident, and requires a face transplant that will change his life and reveal unpleasant truths. Małgorzata Szumowska explores the tensions between body and soul by skillfully combining realism and nuances of fantastic comedy in this exhilarating film that carries a scathing message about contemporary Poland. Winner of the 2018 Berlinale Grand Jury Prize.
