For 37 years now, the Jerusalem Film Festival has been a major cultural event in our city's calendar, bringing a joyful and uplifting spirit to our streets. In recent years, the Festival has not only been restricted to the Jerusalem Cinematheque, as the celebrations have spread out to the city center and to the various neighborhoods, bringing the love of art and cinema to all who seek it.

It is a great pleasure to know that the Jerusalem Film Festival will be held this year too, even though under restricted conditions. At this time, when the whole world is experiencing an upheaval never known before, we are in need of art in general and the Jerusalem Film Festival in particular.

My late wife, Nechama, taught me how to enjoy watching films with enthusiasm and sensitivity, and it was she who helped me find great pleasure in the annual tradition of visiting the Jerusalem Film Festival. For many years now, this Festival has held a special place in my heart.

I wish all the visitors to this wonderful Festival, an enjoyable, challenging, and exciting viewing experience, and of course – very good health.
