Caroline Poggi and Jonathan Vinel’s hypnotizing debut film takes place in a timeless dystopian world. Beautiful Jessica (Aomi Muyock) is a compassionate maternal figure in commando uniform who adopts charming juvenile criminals and recruits them into her band of justice fighters. She loves them, and as a Buddhist monk, aspires to save them from a life of violence and teach them peace and love. She leads the eccentric brood with charisma and, together, isolated from their surroundings, they spend their days in commando training in deserted villas. The dystopian calm is shattered however when a blond boy crashes into their home. The filmmakers successfully created a minimalistic world full of symbolism and contrasts blended with eroticism, emotion, and compassion.
