In 1956, Roberto Rossellini is in the midst of a personal and artistic crisis. Rossellini accepts an invitation from Indian Prime Minister Nehru to travel to India and document its progress. There, he discovers a creative and emotional rebirth, inspired by a culture balancing tradition and modernity.
