Membership Policy and Guidelines
Congratulations on joining the Jerusalem Cinematheque!
The annual membership subscription is personalized and non-transferable.
The subscription grants members free entry to all regular screenings at the Jerusalem Cinematheque.
The subscription offers discounts on courses, the Concerto program, the Met Opera, the Jerusalem Film Festival, scheduled screenings, and special exclusive events throughout the year, details of which are published separately.
The Jerusalem Cinematheque membership card must be presented when ordering any movie ticket.
In case of loss, the membership card can be renewed for a fee of 30 NIS. (Entrance to the screening halls is not allowed without a membership card.)
The membership cannot be frozen, but it can be transferred to another person at a cost of 30 NIS, if there are at least three months remaining until the end of the subscription.
Reserved seats will be held for members until the film begins. To prevent disruptions during the film, latecomers are not permitted.
The Jerusalem Cinematheque is obligated to hold tickets for members until fifteen minutes before the film’s screening. After that time, the tickets will be released!
The Jerusalem Cinematheque may cancel a membership subscription in case of inappropriate conduct and/or violation of the Cinematheque rules.
To Order Tickets:
After ordering tickets on the Cinematheque website, please bring your membership card directly to the screening hall and scan the barcode.
A member who orders tickets and does not collect/cancel them in advance 3 different times, will be barred from future orders. We recommend members call the Box Office directly to cancel orders.
If you decide to cancel your order, please do so as soon as possible, but no later than thirty minutes before the film begins. Tickets can be canceled at the Box Office.
Ticket Cancellation Policy:
Tickets may be cancelled up to 24 hours before the screening time. To cancel, please contact the box office at *9377.
Tickets purchased using a Direct card cannot be cancelled. However, they may be exchanged for another screening at the box office.
Once the screening has started, tickets cannot be cancelled or exchanged, and no refunds will be issued.
**The Jerusalem Cinematheque puts a lot of thought into the creation of the monthly program,
but changes may occur due to last-minute constraints.

Guidelines for a Shared Cinema Experience
Mobile Phones and Electronic Devices
We kindly ask you to refrain from using mobile phones, tablets, and similar electronic devices during screenings. Please switch your devices to silent or vibrate mode when entering the auditorium, so as not to disturb those around you.
No Photography or Recording (Copyright)
The films screened at the Cinematheque are protected by copyright. Recording, photographing, or filming any part of a film being shown on screen is therefore strictly prohibited.
Please note that violation of this rule may constitute an offence under applicable law. Cinematheque staff reserve the right to remove anyone who violates this rule from the auditorium and, where appropriate, to take further legal action.
Consideration for Other Viewers
Please keep noise to a minimum during the screening so that everyone can enjoy a pleasant and respectful viewing experience.
Babies and Children
The Cinematheque is happy to welcome parents with young children. However, please keep the following in mind:
- Bringing babies and children into the auditorium during a screening is the sole responsibility of their parent or accompanying adult.
- Parents, please be considerate of other audience members. If necessary—for example, if a child is crying or restless—we would appreciate it if you could temporarily step outside the auditorium to avoid disturbing the screening.
Screening Times and Late Admission
- Cinematheque screenings will begin at the scheduled time whenever possible.
- Late admission will be permitted for up to 15 minutes after the film has begun.
- Reserved seats: We cannot guarantee reserved seats for latecomers. If you arrive after the screening has begun, please take an available seat in the back rows or at the side of the auditorium to minimize disruption to other audience members.
- Refunds: No refund, compensation, or replacement ticket will be provided due to late arrival.
Accessible Seating
Seats and spaces designated for people with disabilities, including wheelchair users and their companions, are reserved exclusively for their use. Please do not occupy these spaces without prior arrangement or authorization from auditorium staff.
Food and Drinks
Food and drinks are permitted in the auditoriums, except at certain special events where different rules may apply (for example, Metropolitan Opera broadcasts).
In addition to helping us keep the auditorium clean, we would appreciate it if you could avoid bringing food that creates excessive noise (such as loudly rustling packaging) or has a particularly strong smell.
And, of course, please dispose of your personal rubbish at the end of the screening.
Safety and Emergencies
Aisles, stairs, and emergency exits must be kept clear at all times. Please do not block them with personal belongings, strollers, or large bags.
In the event of an emergency, please follow the instructions of Cinematheque staff and the emergency signage.

The Cinematheque team is here to assist you before, during, and after the screening.
- To ensure an enjoyable and safe visit, as well as the best possible screening experience, we ask that you follow the instructions of Cinematheque staff and ushers.
- Please note that violent behavior, damage to property, or repeated disruption of a screening will not be tolerated. In such exceptional circumstances, the Cinematheque reserves the right to remove audience members from the auditorium. We naturally hope this will never be necessary.
Film Classification and Age Restrictions
Admission to films is subject to the age classification determined by the Israel Film Rating Board. Cinematheque staff may request identification showing the holder’s date of birth as a condition of admission to an age-restricted film.
