The Jerusalem-based Filmmaker Honorary Award

Every year, the Jerusalem Film and Television Fund and the Jerusalem Filmmakers Guild present an Honorary Award to Jerusalem filmmakers for their contribution to the art of filmmaking. In past years, this honor has been awarded to Aner Preminger, Anat Tzruya, and Ron Havilio.

This year, following a surge of animated films around the world, the project chose to celebrate the success of dozens of original animations produced in Jerusalem, including CINEMA REX, DEAD END, BALDY HEIGHTS, NUMBERS CITY, BEING SOLOMON, LEGEND OF DESTRUCTION, and THE FENESTAS. This year’s award will be presented to Tal Gadon, an animator and lecturer at the Bezalel Academy of Art and Design. His works include WALTZ WITH BASHIR, THE CONGRESS, IT’S A HARD TRUTH, AIN’T IT (HBO), and the NIR AND GALI clips. Gadon served as Art Director at the Jerusalem Studio of Animation that produced the film WHERE IS ANNE FRANK by Ari Folman, which premiered at the Cannes Film Festival and was chosen to open the 2021 Jerusalem Film Festival.
