Gal Gadot, one of the decade's biggest movie stars, was born in 1985 in Petah Tikva. An eighth-generation Israeli, she is the daughter of an engineer and a teacher. Raised in Rosh HaAyin, Gadot was 18 when she represented Israel at the Miss Universe pageant, launching a modeling and acting career that would eventually take her to Hollywood. In 2009, she joined one of the world's most beloved film franchises, Fast & Furious, starring in two of its installments. She also appeared in Hollywood productions such as Date Night alongside Mark Wahlberg and Knight and Day with Tom Cruise, while also starring in Israeli series such as Asfur and Kathmandu.
Gadot went on to work with some of the biggest names in cinema, including Kate Winslet (Triple 9), Jon Hamm (Keeping Up with the Joneses), and Kevin Costner (Criminal). The true turning point in her career came in 2016, when director and producer Zack Snyder announced that she had been cast in one of the most talked-about and sought-after roles of the era: superhero Diana Prince in Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, the film that launched the DC Extended Universe. A year later, she starred in the character’s first solo film, Wonder Woman, which became a massive hit, earning over $824 million at the worldwide box office. The film ranked tenth on the global box office chart for 2017 and made history as the highest-grossing film ever directed by a woman, Patty Jenkins.
Gadot continued to portray Diana in several films and also appeared in Red Notice, Heart of Stone, Death on the Nile, and the live-action adaptation of Snow White. In the near future, she is expected to take part in new projects alongside Al Pacino and Martin Scorsese, and to portray the Righteous Among the Nations honoree, Irena Sendler.
Alongside her meteoric rise, and with the eyes of the world upon her, Gal Gadot has remained deeply connected to her Israeli identity. Over the years, she has voiced public support for the country, giving Israel an international voice few have matched. In March 2025, she received a Certificate of Appreciation from the Anti-Defamation League. Gal Gadot lives in the United States with her husband, Yaron Varsano, and their four daughters.
