Master classes designed especially for animators and film makers. The “Hop, Skip & Jump” 2018 will host the summer edition of MiniNation – AniNation’s professional one day conference held by executives from: Nickelodeon, Technicolor, Sony Pictures Animation and EYBY.

From Bible to Screen

Developing and making an animated narrative from biblical inspiration to film. 

Speakers:

Jenny Marchick \\ SVP Creative, Sony Pictures Animation

As Senior Vice President of Creative for Sony Pictures Animation, Jenny Marchick is responsible for the creative supervision of a number of upcoming features for the studio, from inception to script through production, including the inspirational The Star, a faith-based feature directed by Academy Award® nominee Timothy Reckart, now available on Blu-ray, DVD and Digital.In her role, Marchick is also in charge of recruiting key storytelling talent, and discovering and acquiring new creative material and intellectual property aligned with Sony Pictures Animation's vision including original concepts, books, comics, video games, shorts, websites, and toys. Marchick's extensive experience in production and development also includes executive positions at Mandeville Films and 20th Century Fox, working on projects such as Beverly Hills Chihuahua, Eight Below, The Proposal, Date Night and Knight and Day.

Art Hernandez \\ Director, Sony Pictures Animation

As a director, Art has taken the reins of everal projects, creating three Tinker Bell shorts: HIDE N’ TINK, NO CROAKIN’ AROUND, and BEE’S EYE. More recently he was brought on as a director for the Warner Animation Group where he successfully rebooted one of their animated features. He is also now a published illustrator with the release of the Little Golden Book for PLANES: FIRE AND RESCUE.

Art lives in the Los Angeles area with his wife of eighteen years and their three dogs.  He spends some of his free time working with Padres Contra El Cancer, a local pediatric cancer charity.  Plus he remembers how much he appreciated a helping hand in his formative years, so he does everything he can to mentor young artists hoping to break into the animation industry.

We know that brand development begins with the initial pitch materials, but a clear and focused pitch actually continues throughout all stages of the life of a brand.

Steven Wendland \\ VP Animation & Creative Head Animation, Technicolor

Steven Wendland is the Head of Technicolor Creative Development, and joined the company in 2008. Among the recent projects developed and produced under his leadership are Atomic Puppet and The Deep. He is currently exec producing season 3 of The Deep. His background includes animation, games, VFX and music.

Pitching 101: All you need to know

Pitching can be nerve wracking and scary. You have a great idea, but what’s the best way to pitch it to the Network Exec? You’re probably asking yourself questions like; do I need a pilot script? A storyboard? How much is enough? How much is too much? During this interactive workshop, we’ll answer all these questions and more!

Elly Kramer \\ Children's Media Executive, Former VP of Production and Development at Nickelodeon

Elly Kramer is senior creative executive with over 15 years of experience leading the development of innovative content. She has created numerous award-winning and highly rated TV shows and has also led the development of online games, innovative apps and a wide range of creative assets. As VP of Production and Development with Nickelodeon, she led the development of long and short-form content. Elly has been with Nickolodean since 2002 and highlights of her TV work include Team Umizoomi, Bubble Guppies, Fresh Beat Band, Wallykazam, Shimmer & Shine, Mutt & Stuff, Blaze and the Monster Machines, Peter Rabbit and Ni –hao, Kai – lan. She has also produced and developed over 35 shorts. Elly is a frequent speaker at film festivals and industry events. She holds an MA in Developmental Psychology from Teacher’s College at Columbia University and a BS in Communications from New York University.

In an hour-long practical view, we'll discuss a segment that is often overlooked - the people who already engaged with you. The aspect of good audience retention tactics is crucial and by using the Facebook Ads Manager system, it is fairly easy to set up a basic promotional campaign that will reach your past viewers. Keeping touch with your audience time and time again, will help you build a community.
