Theo Who Lived

In 2012, American journalist Theo Padnos travelled to Syria to cover the civil war and was kidnapped by Al-Qaeda. Due to his knowledge of Arabic, his captors suspected him of being a CIA agent and tortured and interrogated him for many months. However, thanks to his unique personality, he succeeded in forming a special bond with his captors, so that by the time he was released after 22 months of captivity, he was a confidant of key Al-Qaeda commanders in Syria. This film document his journey following his imprisonment, as he returns to the Middle East and relates his various physical and emotional ordeals.
