Life Is a Miracle

Dreaming of bringing the railroad to his sleepy Bosnian town and turning the region into a tourist paradise, Luka manages to ignore the fast approaching civil war. His wife disappears with a Hungarian musician, his son falls prisoner to the Bosnians, while Luka himself falls in love with a Muslim nurse. Kusturica once more succeeds in combining tragedy, comedy, realism and surrealism. The music of his band, "No Smoking," features prominently.
