Centaur

Kyrgyzstan, France, Germany, Netherlands 2017 | 89 minutes | Kirghiz | Hebrew, English subtitles

Centaur is a quiet, humble family man, father to a child who has never uttered a word, and loving husband to his young, deaf-mute wife. Centaur’s simple, pleasant life in a remote village in Kyrgyzstan is turned upside down when his spirit becomes haunted by a legend that horses possess the strength and unity of the Kyrgyz people. Caught one night stealing a horse, Centaur must face the consequences. In Centaur, his sixth film to date, esteemed Kyrgyz director Aktan Arym Kubat grants us a view of a faraway place, inspired by the mythology of his people. Winner of the CICAE award at the Berlin International Film Festival.
