On January 23, 2020, the Chinese government closed the gates of the city of Wuhan on its 11 million inhabitants in an attempt to stop the mysterious disease outbreak that has since changed the world. This documentary takes us to the front lines in the battle against the COVID-19 pandemic and the medical teams who looked as though they’d stepped right out of an apocalyptic science fiction film as they don protective hazmat suits and rush from one patient to another. This is a rare and unique documentation of 76 days of quarantine, revealing a series of medical and humanitarian stories from the center of the outbreak. The camerawork is particularly impressive, and the three directors succeed in creating a captivating, intense, and disturbing, yet touching cinematic experience. The film premiered at the Toronto Film Festival in September and has since reaped tremendous praise and stellar reviews.
