The Personal History of David Copperfield

UK 2019 | 116 minutes | English | Hebrew subtitles

Armando Iannucci (The Death of Stalin, Veep) delivers a creative adaptation of Charles Dickens’s famous novel – a smart and colorful comedy that features wonderful performances by Dev Patel (Slumdog Millionaire), Tilda Swinton, and Hugh Laurie (House). When David Copperfield's mother marries a new and solemn man, David is sent to live in the maid's home with her strange family. The family's boat-shaped home becomes the first chapter in the spectacular life story of the young Copperfield. Over the years, he will find himself in a dreary boys' boarding school, in the home of an eccentric aunt, and in a private home of his own. He will rise to greatness and then fall, become wealthy and then live in poverty, find love, and discover its many faces.
