Friends of the Festival
Camille, a rather lost and introverted skateboard buff, lives with her mother on Long Island. Surfing on Instagram leads her to Skate Kitchen, a posse of girl skateboarders who are happy to have her join the ranks. For the first time in her life, Camille feels like she belongs, she makes friends, and experiences wild, often sexual, escapades with this vivacious, fun-loving clique. Drawing on her impressions of the real-life Skate Kitchen girls, American director Chrystal Moselle (The Wolfpack), fuses a tender coming-of-age story with exquisite shots of New York City, and skillfully brings the youthful vibes of skateboard culture to the screen. Skate Kitchen premiered at the Sundance Film Festival.
