Each and Every Moment

An unexpected visit to the emergency room inspired celebrated documentarian Nicolas Philibert (To Be and To Have) to make this film, which follows a group of student nurses at a medical institute in the Parisian suburb of Montreuil. Philibert divides the film into three chapters: the first focuses on theoretical training; the second, follows the young nurses in their practical training, and in the third (and most touching), the students are documented while they meet with their supervisors, talk about their residencies, and are assigned to their first jobs. In his characteristic cinema verité style, Philibert captures various situations with outstanding skill, sensitivity, and empathy. Viewers will be both entertained and moved to tears.
