Leap of Faith: William Friedkin on The Exorcist

When William Friedkin accepted Alexandre Phillippe’s offer to make a film about him, the latter decided he wanted to use the model of "Hitchcock/ Truffaut," to discuss and analyze the process of Friedkin’s work over a few successive days, and that he wanted to focus on his famous film from 1973, The Exorcist. Phillippe watched the film 30 days in a row and then conducted the interview with Friedkin over six days. The result is the film at hand: A surprising portrait of a brilliant artist with broad horizons who candidly reveals his work process, different techniques and his cinematic philosophy, without hesitating to take a fresh look at his work and even regret a few of the choices he made while directing one of the greatest films of all times.
