Description

Dear Viewers,

This was a very challenging year for cultural institutions around the world. However, even in these uncertain times, the management of the Cinematheque decided to hold the Jerusalem Film Festival while maintaining the same standards of excellence, quality, creativity, and innovation that the Jerusalem Cinematheque has always set for itself.

The Jerusalem Foundation, the institution that established the leading cultural institutions in the city, including the Cinematheque, felt both compelled and duty bound, especially during this complex period, to increase its support to all the artists, creators, and cultural establishments so that they could continue to be for Jerusalem exactly what they have always been: The heart and soul of the city without which Jerusalem would not be the city that we all know.

The Jerusalem Film Festival’s Opening Film, WHERE IS ANNE FRANK, directed by Ari Folman, was made in the creative labs of Jerusalem by many artists, who once again, succeeded in crowning the city as the capital of creativity in Israel. For that, we are so proud.

The year, we will also present the Best International Film in the Nechama Rivlin International Competition with the Jerusalem Foundation Award, donated by Ron Lauder, and the Haggiag Award for Best Feature Film through the Jerusalem Foundation, as well as the Pitch Point Competition Award. These awards add to our annual support for the Festival, thanks to the friends of the foundation from all corners of the world who recognize the importance of maintaining a creative, vibrant, and open Jerusalem.

I extend my thanks to all those attending the Festival, who continue to show their support and have made the effort to attend the leading film festival in Israel for the past 39 years. I thank the Cinematheque management led by Dr. Noa Regev and Chair of the Board, Daniel Mirman for their relentless work and efforts throughout the entire year.
