This first feature by Jeanette Nordahl centers around the character of 17-year-old Ida. A fatal car accident claims her mother's life and Ida is forced to move in with her domineering aunt and cousins. The home is full of warmth and displays of affection, but on the outside, the family leads a life of crime and violence. When one of the family "operations" goes wrong, tensions increase, and our protagonist is thrust into a dark reality forcing her to make very difficult decisions. Wildland is a thriller that garnered rave reviews since its premiere at the Berlin Film Festival, largely due to the skillful directing of the promising Danish director and the captivating performance by Sandra Gulberg Kampp in the lead role.
